Melissa Johnson, MSW, LICSW-A
I have been working in social services throughout the Palouse since 2009. I earned my BS in Psychology and BA in Human Development from Washington State University in 2010, and received my Master of Social Work from Eastern Washington University in 2013. I focused on parenting and attachment during graduate school and then received my Certification as Circle of Security Instructor in 2014. I have experience working with survivors of sexual and domestic violence. I spent 3 years as a legal advocate helping survivors navigate the legal systems and understand their options. I have taught individualized Parenting Education classes and provided Family Preservation Services (FPS). I am a trained volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association and have spent significant time engaged in continuing education regarding geriatric conditions. My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming and welcomes all families. I have a special interest in working with people who are healing from religious trauma and recovering from the impacts of heteronormative expectations.
I settled in Pullman in 2006 and deeply enjoy serving people of the Palouse! I am now raising my family here, and in my free time I enjoy riding my motorcycle and taking walks around the various parks of Pullman. You can often spot me chasing my child around the pathways of Lawson Gardens!
